SI base units
The SI units (International System of Units, from the French Le Système International d’Unités), has seven base units of measurement.
These seven base units of measurement are mutually independent.
Seven SI base units of measurements are listed in below table.
The names of SI base units are written in lowercase letters when written in full name. But the symbol's first letter is written in capital letter, if the base unit got its name from a scientist.
For example; The symbol for kelvin is K (written in capital letters), which is the unit of measurement of temperature. The unit of temperature got its name from Irish-Scottish physicist William Thomson, Lord Kelvin.
